GREENWICH VILLAGE LOFT

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK

Bright and spacious, this duplex apartment in the heart of Manhattan’s vibrant and historic Greenwich Village, required a total gut renovation. Clients – a busy young professional couple – wanted to honor the industrial feel of the New York City loft, but create a modern, airy, and inviting space that would grow with their family.

Expansive ceilings not only allow for abundant custom storage, but also the flexible industrial-style track lighting which speaks to the iron spiral stair leading to the upper floor. Soft blue-grey tones of the kitchen cabinets are balanced by wood tones of warm walnut cabinets and light oak flooring. The kitchen island is anchored by a stunning oversized Bohemia pendant by Joan Gaspar for Marset. Other design classics include Eames stools by Herman Miller, and the iconic custom USM Haller media console in the living room. The showstopper is the dining room set, which includes original rosewood chairs by Hans Olsen for Frem, a family heirloom we had expertly restored. The dining table is a family-friendly Gala extension table by Skovby in walnut.

Nature’s colors of juicy green and crisp light blue dominate in the powder room and primary bathroom, respectively. Brass hardware and brass-green faucet by Rubinet add a touch of whimsy in the powder room. Brass and black finishes mix in the primary bathroom, bringing that industrial touch back to the upper floor.
